About Mardi
I was born in Melbourne and began my career as a qualified beauty therapist and manicurist. At 23, I packed my bags to travel and never really looked back. I found love and adventure in Venice, then spent two wonderful years exploring Europe, the UK and the Middle East before eventually making my home in beautiful Aotearoa, New Zealand.
In 1994, I founded my nail and beauty business, The Nail Studio. Over more than three decades, I’ve continued to develop my skills through professional education, international training and hands-on experience. The industry has changed enormously during that time, but my commitment to careful technique, quality products and genuinely personal service has remained constant.
Always curious, always learning
My interest in caring for people has always extended beyond the surface. Over the years, I studied remedial massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and complementary therapies. These experiences taught me to listen carefully, look at the individual rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach, and understand how important it is for people to feel comfortable and cared for.
During the changes and uncertainty of 2020, my longstanding interest in health and nutrition became more personal. Looking for answers to changes I was experiencing myself led me to complete a New York-based health-coaching programme, followed by further study in hormone health and nutrition.
Although my work today is firmly focused on nails, everything I’ve learned has shaped the thoughtful and considered way I care for my clients.
My approach to nails
At The Nail Studio, I offer a complete range of professional nail treatments, including manicures, pedicures, gel colour, BIAB, extensions, enhancements, repairs, removals and restorative treatments.
I work with premium professional systems including CND Shellac and Plexigel, Bio Sculpture Gel, The GelBottle BIAB and Gel Colour, IBX, Gemini polish.
No single treatment or product is right for everybody. I take the time to understand your nails, lifestyle and desired result before choosing the most suitable approach. Whether you want beautifully maintained natural nails, long-lasting colour, additional strength or added length, the health and integrity of your natural nail will always be respected beneath the treatment.
A studio created with care
The Nail Studio is intentionally private, calm and personal. Every appointment is with me and is tailored to you, without the rush or noise of a busy walk-in salon.
Away from the nail table, life is kept warm and entertaining by my three much-loved brown fur babies, who make sure no day is ever too serious.
For me, this work is about more than polished nails. It’s about trust, confidence, conversation and giving you time to feel genuinely looked after.
